GAMSAT dates 2027: test windows and registration
Last updated
The GAMSAT® runs twice a year, in March and September. This page explains how each sitting is timed and gives the dates as ACER publishes them. Always confirm on the official GAMSAT website, gamsat.acer.org, before you book anything.
GAMSAT 2027 dates
ACER had not yet published the 2027 timetable when this page was last updated. We'll add the dates here as soon as they're released.
Until then, the 2026 timetable below is the best guide to the pattern you can expect.
How each sitting works
Each sitting has two separate test windows:
- Written Communication (Section 2) — sat at home under remote supervision, with a session you book yourself.
- Humanities and Sciences (Sections 1 and 3) — sat together on one day at a test centre, about three weeks later. Choose a morning or afternoon session when you register.
You must sit all three sections to receive results.

Planning around the dates
- Register early. Test centre seats are limited per session, and late registration costs more.
- Apply for reasonable adjustments by the standard deadline. Adjustments can't be made after the test, so they must be in place beforehand.
- Book your remote session early. Written Communication sessions depend on availability.
- Check your ID now. You'll need current photo identification, and some documents take a month or more to arrive.
- Line up your sitting with your applications. For Australian programs, the March sitting's results arrive in late May — check each university's application timeline before you choose.
- Remember the expiry. Results are valid for four years in Australia and two years in the UK and Ireland.
Should I sit in March or September?
It depends on when you apply and how ready you are. If you have time before March, sitting then gives you results before mid-year applications and a second chance in September if needed. If you're starting from scratch, September gives you more preparation time. Our overview of the GAMSAT explains what you'll be preparing for.
